For a person’s Arizona record

Keep the full name and the letters after it beside you. MD and DO both refer to doctors, but they use different licence searches.
PA means physician assistant, a health professional whose permission to prescribe depends on training and Arizona’s board rules.
A nurse practitioner has additional nursing training and can make care decisions within the scope of that training.
- Doctor with MD after the name: choose Arizona’s Medical Board.
- Doctor with DO after the name: choose the separate doctor board’s DO search.
- Nurse practitioner: choose the Nursing Board and check both the licence and the certificate for the nurse’s further care role.
