Gilbert fieldbook A guide to peptide care

Orientation · people and licences

Look up the person, not just the name on the door.

Ask for the clinician’s full name, licence number and profession. Then use the board for that profession rather than a badge on a care website.

The health professional assessing your needs and helping choose care is called a clinician.

A board order is a written decision from the licensing board.

Assumption to check

Will a single doctor search cover everyone?

What the facts say

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona has one licensing board for doctors with MD after their names and a separate board for doctors with DO.

MD and DO both refer to doctors. The letters after the name tell you which licence search to use.

Choose the matching board

Choose the board that matches the letters after the clinician’s name.

A nurse practitioner has additional nursing training and can make care decisions within the scope of that training.

A physician assistant, abbreviated PA, is a health professional allowed to prescribe when their training and Arizona rules permit. Whether a PA needs a doctor to oversee their work depends on clinical hours confirmed by the board.

  • For an MD, Arizona’s Medical Board provides Doctor Search and public board orders.
  • For a DO, Arizona’s separate doctor board has a search called Find your DO.
  • For a nurse practitioner, Arizona’s Nursing Board links to both the nurse’s licence and the certificate showing their further training.
  • For a PA, Arizona’s PA board offers a name search and a way to check the licence.

As of October 3, 2026, a nurse practitioner’s advanced-practice certificate records permission to give care beyond the usual nursing role.

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona requires board authority for nurse practitioners to prescribe within their training.

An empty history box is not the whole history

As of October 6, 2026, Arizona restricts the board records available on websites; you can request further public records.

Meeting minutes are written accounts of board meetings; notices announce the meetings. These legally kept papers are outside some website limits, so they may show information missing from the licence page.

Ask the board whether its meeting papers address the licence you are checking.

Treat the public page as a starting record. Ask the board how to request further records when something remains unclear.

If the clinician is licensed elsewhere

As of October 3, 2026, remote-care registration through the appropriate Arizona board is available to some clinicians who hold a licence in another state. That board checks whether they meet the registration rules.

  • Which authority covers your care of an Arizona patient?
  • How can the matching board confirm it?
  • Does that authority cover this proposed care?
Open the source notes

Keep the board record with the clinician’s name. Bring questions about the proposed medicine to the care discussion.
